Shahmukhi Course
Reconnecting the Gurmukhi reader to the broader literary soul of the Punjab.
The Lost Scriptural Bridge
The 1947 partition severed East Punjab’s tie to the Persio-Arabic script used by Sufi masters like Bulleh Shah and Waris Shah to write Punjabi. This script, later called Shahmukhi, became a stranger to us. Learning it is the only way to hear the Sufi wisdom in the exact words as they spoke.
Why learn Shahmukhi?
The Sufi Literature
Read Waris Shah, Bulleh Shah, and Baba Farid without the dilution of transliteration.
Persian
Shahmukhi acts as the vital linguistic bridge for Gurmukhi readers to eventually master Persian.
Our History
Unlock the administrative records and historical documents of the Sikh Empire held in Persian. It can start with Shahmukhi.
The Zafarnama
You can read Zafarnamah in its original form once you learn the Shahmukhi alphabets as it shares the same script as Persian.
Sanjha Punjab
Bridge the gap with Lehnda Punjab, opening a direct door to 100 million fellow Punjabi speakers.
Total Literacy
To be truly literate in Punjabi literature is to know Shahmukhi along with Gurmukhi, or you will miss it’s classic literature.
