Our Vanishing Heritage
Sikh Heritage in Lehnda Punjab
“If the Gurdhams we seek twice a day in our Ardas have vanished from the earth, what meaning remains in a prayer for a Darshan that is no longer possible?”
The 1947 Uprooting
Broken Bricks, Unbroken Longing
1947 was never a “migration” for the Sikhs; it was a violent and intentional uprooting – a forced displacement that severed a people from the very soil where their Gurus once walked. This “Ujaada” left behind more than just homes and fields; it left behind hundreds of Gurdhams and historical sites in Lehnda Punjab, now standing as the ‘Visardi Virasat’ (Forgotten Heritage).
These places are not merely brick and mortar; they are the physical anchors of Sikh history. As these sacred spaces face the slow decay of time or the threat of being erased entirely, the project to document and preserve them also becomes a race against times.

The Mission
A Mandate for Digital Immortality
Through our flagship project, ‘Visardi Virasat’ (Forgotten Heritage), we bridge the gap between our daily prayers and the physical reality of our heritage. We recognize that these sites are the living history of the Panth, and their preservation is a spiritual necessity.
“If the Gurdhams we seek twice a day in our Ardas vanish from the earth, the spiritual bridge of our longing loses its destination, leaving a void where our living history once breathed. We document this heritage so that the Sangat is informed, and those who can act to preserve the them can finally do so before it is lost forever.”
Ruins of Sovereignty
The Sovereign Heritage of
Sarkar-e-Khalsa
Besides the Gurdwaras, the empire of Sarkar-e-Khalsa, established by Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh, left an architectural footprint Sikhs remain deeply tethered to. Centered in the capital of Lahore, this sovereignty stretched across Lehnda Punjab.
From the plains to Haripur Hazara and the Jamrud Fort, there are countless sites from which Sikhs were separated. We document these places with geo-mapping and videography through our project, Visardi Virasat.
