A momentous book launch event was held at Punjab House, Lahore, celebrating the release of My Journey to Lehnda Punjab, a travelogue by Canadian author Sukhpreet Singh Muhar. The event, hosted by Mudassar Butt, highlighted the rich personal and cultural experiences that Sukhpreet Singh Muhar encountered during his visit to Lehnda Punjab in March 2023. The author’s journey took him to his ancestral village, Arazi Lal Singh (also known as Chak Rasalu), near Pakpattan. The book is filled with his heartfelt memories of reconnecting with his roots and exploring historical sites related to the Khalsa Raj and Sikh and Punjabi history.
In his speech, Mr. Muhar expressed deep gratitude for the unparalleled hospitality and love he received in Lehnda Punjab, noting that it surpassed any he had experienced globally. His words resonated with the audience, bringing forth the spirit of shared Punjabi heritage and unity. Rita Arora, Mr. Muhar’s wife, was also in attendance, showing her support for his work and journey.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Tarunjit Singh Butalia from Jeevey Sanjha Punjab addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of cultural reconnection and unity between Punjabis on both sides of the border. Masaud Khalid, a renowned scholar of Lehnda Punjab, spoke about the lasting legacy of Punjabi culture and the importance of building connections beyond political divisions.
Other Prominent figures who addressed the gathering included Motia Masaud Khalid (MPA from Pakpattan), Jameel Afridi, Waqar Jugnu, and Ilyas Ghumman. Each speaker emphasized the themes of peace and fraternity among Punjabis across borders, reinforcing the book’s core message of unity.
